Dr Paramita Bhowmick has completed her PhD and M.Phil in Psychiatric Social Work from NIMHANS, an Institute of National Importance. She has over 15 years of experience in Couple and Family Therapy. Throughout her professional journey, she has come to believe that healthy and functional interpersonal relationships are among the most important contributors to mental and social well-being.
She believes that effective communication, perspective-taking, empathy, active listening, and the experience of feeling truly heard are the foundations of strong interpersonal relationships. Drawing from different schools of Couple and Family Therapy, she follows an eclectic, evidence-based approach tailored to the unique needs of each individual, couple, or family.
Her therapeutic practice integrates Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Behaviour Therapy, EFT, Queer-Affirmative Therapy, and Suicide Prevention & Crisis Intervention. She actively involves clients in the therapeutic process through role-play techniques, communication facilitation, perspective-taking exercises, and empathy-building interventions, helping them strengthen their relationships, resolve conflicts, and lead more fulfilling, meaningful lives.

How Sessions Work
Sessions are structured, paced, and led with clear direction. Time is used to examine live material from recent interactions rather than retelling history in detail. The focus stays on what is happening now and what needs to shift for progress to occur.
- Focus on interaction patterns, not symptom checklists
- Slows conversations when they loop or escalate
- Tracks responsibility shifts and communication breakdowns
- Works with both joint and individual sessions when required
- Avoids quick advice when deeper dynamics are driving the issue
Client Reviews
We went to Dr. Paramita when our conversations had completely broken down. She didn’t just let us talk—she guided us on how to talk. That changed a lot for us.
We were stuck in the same arguments again and again. With her, we started noticing the pattern instead of blaming each other.
We didn’t realise how much miscommunication was affecting us. Her way of breaking things down made it clearer.
I went in feeling emotionally exhausted. Sessions with Dr. Paramita helped me process things step by step without feeling overwhelmed.
